STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN OPENS UP ABOUT RETURNING TO WWE

Stone Cold Steve Austin has opened up about the possibility of making a return to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity. After a near two-decade retirement from wrestling, Austin made his return at WrestleMania 38 to face Kevin Owens for what would end up being a one-night-only match. His involvement at WrestleMania didn’t end there, though, as he would get involved with Austin Theory and Vince McMahon on night two of the 2022 event. Interest in another Stone Cold Steve Austin match has led to a hint that he may return for WrestleMania 40 if the right opportunity arises. In a recent interview with SI Media, Austin discussed the possibility of a return in a managerial or announcer capacity, saying: Right now, off the top of my head, I say no, because I don’t want to put the time into living my life back on the road again. I rode that road hard. I loved that lifestyle, I worked my ass off, I put my body on the line, and I ran hard. “Now, I’m at a place where I’m still living life. I start...

Steve Austin On Refusing To Listen To Vince McMahon: "No, I'm gonna do it"

Stone Cold Steve Austin recently recalled how he disagreed with Vince McMahon over his use of the middle-finger gesture in WWE. The Hall of Famer famously used to flip his rivals the bird during the height of his popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Although WWE shows were rated TV-14 at the time, McMahon wanted his top star to create a more family-friendly gesture. Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Austin revealed that McMahon liked the hand signal that Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) used in WCW. The then-WWE Chairman advised The Texas Rattlesnake to consider using a similar gesture, but he refused. “It just turns out that the timing was right when I did it,” Austin said.  “And they asked me not to do it, but I said, ‘No, I’m gonna do it.’ They wanted me to come up with a whole different hand signal. Vince did, specifically, because Diamond Dallas Page was giving the diamond [hand signal], right? And everybody would go like that [hands raised] with...

Stone Cold Steve Austin Turned Down Vince McMahon's Offer - Refused To Make A WWE comeback

In wrestling years, that’s young. That’s perhaps even your prime years and we’ve seen the likes of Undertaker, Ric Flair and many others work up to in and around 50. Austin’s time on top was a blaze of unprecedented glory. From late 1996 to early 2002, the Texas Rattlesnake was the hottest thing in the business.  When that flash smashed, there was nothing like it. But neck issues and other piling health issues meant his WrestleMania 19 match with The Rock was his last. Retiring so young, many wondered if he could ever be tempted into a return, but that never manifested. However, Stone Cold Steve Austin told Chris Jericho on his podcast it wasn’t for lack of trying by Vince McMahon. “I think Vince [McMahon] tried talking me into coming back a couple of times," he said. "But you know Chris, I love the business so much – I can’t say I love it more than anybody else, I can only speak for myself. “But I just love the damn business, and it hurt me so much to leave it. And to ...
