The latest Team USA performance by an All-Star is commended by LeBron James

Image
Preparing for the FIBA World Cup, Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves and the rest of the American squad took on Germany in their final tune-up game before the real competition started. Though Reaves closed the game strong against Germany, it was an All-Star performance from one of the youngest on Team USA, that caught the attention of Lakers superstar Lebron James on Sunday night. James wasn't the only one to shout young Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards out, as Ant Man led the Americans in scoring with an efficient 34 to close out their European foes.   Down early in the third quarter an eventual 18-0 run from the states closed the Germans out as Edwards picked apart their defense from both the three point line and in the paint.   Flashing all the right moves that have made him so great, Edwards isn't just getting the attention of those watching at home, but from the American coaching staff that is leading the team into battle on a nightly basis.   "H...

Patrick Mahomes: We respect Chris Jones’ decision, it doesn’t hurt his relationship with us

Image
When Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones elected to hold out from training camp, quarterback Patrick Mahomes figured he would be back in the building by now. Mahomes said as much during his Wednesday press conference. But now Jones, who is seeking a new contract, has said that he might not report until Week Eight. Still, Mahomes said on Wednesday that he’s “not necessarily” anticipating starting the regular season without the star defensive lineman. “I know that stuff — contract stuff — is hard to talk about because everybody wants to make money for their entire family and everything like that,” Mahomes said. “But I know how much Chris loves the Chiefs. He loves being a part of this organization. So I just try to stay out of it and tell Chris that I love him and that whenever he does come back, he’ll be welcomed with open arms.  Skip “We know that he’s preparing himself so that whenever he does come back, he’ll be that dominant player that he always has been.” With the Chiefs ...

Image
Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany loves some good food on a good day because who doesn’t? But it turned out to be a massive disappointment for her when she was told that her favorite dish is no longer available at her local Red Lobster.  Brittany took no time in reaching out to the restaurant chain that records an annual revenue of $2,600,000,000, and asked why they had to discontinue the dish. Patrick Mahomes, just like any other fun-loving husband responded to her tweet immediately with three laughing emojis. However, moments later Red Lobster made sure to calm down their celebrity customer by apologizing and then affirming her with a message which would help her not to worry. Red Lobster Saves the Day for Brittany Mahomes It’s clear that Brittany Mahomes gets easily disappointed if her favorite dish is discontinued from the menu.  That is exactly what happened when she was unable to find her go-to dish ‘coconut shrimp’ on the Red Lobster menu. She immediately took to X (form...

Playing with toys and in a football onesie,...

Trump’s potential return to White House up to American people, says Kevin Rudd

Image
The Australian ambassador to the US, Kevin Rudd, says it is up to the American people whether Donald Trump returns to the White House – an outcome he previously said would “fray” support for the US alliance in Australia. The former Australian prime minister said on Wednesday that US politics was “a complex beast” and he was focused on keeping on good terms with both sides of the aisle, including former Trump officials. Rudd said he was also focused on securing US legislation to enable tech collaboration under the Aukus pact, but likened it to “a complex process of sausage-making”.  Rudd is well connected in Washington and is close to senior figures in the Biden administration and establishment Republicans, but has previously been an outspoken critic of Trump. Prior to his appointment as ambassador, which took effect earlier this year, Rudd called Trump “the most destructive president in history”. Rudd told Guardian Australia before the 2020 election that if Trump were re-elected,...

Image

A two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time MVP of that game and the 2018 and 2022, Mahomes is favored to take home the ultimate prize this season. Knsas City open the NFL season, as is custom for the defending champs, vs. Detroit at Arrowhead on September 7. During the playoffs, the four-time All-Pro, led the Chiefs past Jacksonville, Cincinnati and Philadelphia while throwing seven TDs and zero picks.  Heading into last season, Mahomes was ranked No. 8 by his peers after a loss to the Bengals in the AFC Conference Championship. Behind Mahomes, was Offensive Player of the Year Justin Jefferson, superstar Vikings receiver...

In an attempt to justify Coco Gauff's earnings, Nick Kyrgios compares Djokovic & Marketa Vondrousova incorrectly at Wimbledon.

Image
Nick Kyrgios continues to stir up controversy.  The Australian recently questioned why Marketa Vondrousova made more money than Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon as he attempted to justify Coco Gauff earning less than the men's winner at the Citi Open. Having battled a series of injuries over the last few months, Kyrgios has played just one match this season, which he lost. The Aussie also withdrew from the 2023 Wimbledon Championships and is yet to decide the date of his return to the tour. Nick Kyrgios first suffered an injury during last year's Japan Open.  Earlier this year, the 28-year-old was set to compete at the United Cup but he withdrew his name at the eleventh hour. On Monday, tennis content writer Myles David highlighted that women's winner Coco Gauff earned way less than the men's winner Dan Evans at the 2023 Citi Open. David's post on Twitter read: "Dan Evans’s will receive $353,445 for winning the ATP500 event in Washington, D.C. "Coco Gauff wi...

“She Changed My Diapers”- Unable To Get Over Sister’s Death, Serena Williams Made a Heart-Wrenching Revelation about Life’s Flailing Uncertainty

Image
Venus and Serena Williams reigned the court and set a bar for the upcoming generation of WTA players.  This was possible only with the support of their family, who stood by them during their training and careers. Hence, losing one of them, that too in a tragic death, took a toll on the family. Serena Williams, who at the time was cementing her spot as a tennis great, detailed the impact her eldest sister Yetunde Price had on her life. The grief surrounding the tragic loss lingered long after Price’s passing.  Years later, Serena Williams wished for just one thing. i.e. to have a warm moment with the sister she shared a deep bond with from such a tender age. The young American had become the talk of the town with her sensational performance after her win at the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2003. However, hot on the heels of those victories came some disturbing news. Serena Williams faced a setback after finding out that her elder sister, Yetunde Price, was murdered in a...

Now I Get It’- Moments After Sealing Final Spot in Washington, Coco Gauff Reveals Major Men’s Tennis Realization as ‘Hate’ Makes Way for Understanding

Image
Coco Gauff continues to shine at the Washington Open as she cruises past Liudmila Samsonova 6-3, 6-3 to book a spot in the final.  In the meantime, there have been talks about the 19-year-old making certain tweaks to her game. After making significant changes to her coaching team, she has begun to unlock a new version of herself. However, today Gauff showed us something different – something which is usually only seen in men’s tennis.  Big serves and engagement in passive rallies define Coco Gauff’s game. But critics have often found that her groundstrokes lack power. However, this week, she has shown that she is far from one-dimensional. The World No.7 showed aggression in many baseline exchanges.  But today, it was her return position that was a massive eye-opener for tennis pundits and fans alike. During the match, Gauff came up with a completely different returning position than her usual. The American was standing several feet behind the baseline. Backcourt players ...

Coco Gauff surges into DC final, U.S. women abound in Montréal qualifying

Image
Just last month, Coco Gauff lost in the first round of Wimbledon. Frustrating? Yes. Demoralizing? No way.  This week, at her next tournament back, the Mubadala Citi DC Open, Gauff has been airtight and is now in the final of a Hologic WTA Tour event for the first time since a January title run in Auckland. Aided by the new coaching team of Pere Riba and Brad Gilbert, showing what she called “external focus,” Gauff has won all three of her matches without the loss of a set.  Most notable: Friday’s quarterfinal 6-1, 6-2 victory versus Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic, followed up Saturday with a 6-3, 6-3 win over defending champion Liudmila Samsonova. Well aware that Samsonova has one of the best serves in the game, Gauff stood further back to receive (a textbook Gilbert tactic) and won a sparkling 64 percent of Samsonova’s second serve points.   Here's another Gilbert data point. In 1994, coaching Andre Agassi at their first tournament together in Miami, Gilbert h...

An intimate view of Jennifer Lawrence's very private family life

Image
Jennifer Lawrence achieved near-instant fame after her career skyrocketed thanks to her role as Katniss Everdeen on the Hunger Games franchise, and though her life became a whirlwind after that, one thing she knew for certain was that she would eventually have a family of her own.  At only 25, she became the world's highest paid actress for two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016, though even before that and all the success that came with it, she always had her eyes on a lowkey life with a partner and kids. Her latest interview with Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos proves just as much, after the veteran news anchor showed her a clip from a past interview where the actress predicted the life she is living now. Sitting down with the late Barbara Walters back in 2013, when she was asked where she saw herself in ten years, Jennifer, then only 22, mused: "Not in Los Angeles, in a house, on a big property, and maybe starting a family. Everything is calm, I have a mini...

Jennifer Lawrence: “I Didn’t Have a Life. I Thought I Should Go Get One”

Image
At first glance, it appears that Jennifer Lawrence has either been institutionalized or is on the set of a horror movie. She’s sitting in a rattan rocking chair, slowly creaking back and forth. The walls of the otherwise empty room are colorless and bare, except for the discomfiting shadow of a ladder over her right shoulder. Her hair is long and wet. Her computer sits atop a stack of boxes, angled for this September morning’s stint in Zoom prison so that her pregnant belly is out of sight. There’s a scratching at the door behind her. No fool, her cat Frank, otherwise known as Fredericks, doesn’t want any part of this and is trying to get out. Told to blink twice if she needs rescuing, Lawrence laughs. She and her husband of two years, art gallery director Cooke Maroney, are in a rental while their Manhattan town house is under construction.  The austerity of the room feels staged to discourage any unwanted probing. So urgent is Lawrence’s desire for privacy that she recently gave...

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN OPENS UP ABOUT RETURNING TO WWE

Image
Stone Cold Steve Austin has opened up about the possibility of making a return to WWE in a non-wrestling capacity. After a near two-decade retirement from wrestling, Austin made his return at WrestleMania 38 to face Kevin Owens for what would end up being a one-night-only match. His involvement at WrestleMania didn’t end there, though, as he would get involved with Austin Theory and Vince McMahon on night two of the 2022 event. Interest in another Stone Cold Steve Austin match has led to a hint that he may return for WrestleMania 40 if the right opportunity arises. In a recent interview with SI Media, Austin discussed the possibility of a return in a managerial or announcer capacity, saying: Right now, off the top of my head, I say no, because I don’t want to put the time into living my life back on the road again. I rode that road hard. I loved that lifestyle, I worked my ass off, I put my body on the line, and I ran hard. “Now, I’m at a place where I’m still living life. I start...

Ric Flair had unique request after nearly losing his life, according to Hulk Hogan

Image
After it wasn’t expected Ric Flair would make it through surgery, he made an unusual request to Hulk Hogan. The health scares of ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair over recent years have been well documented. This didn’t stop him having one “final” match last year, and even on that occasion he said he passed out twice during the contest. However, for one particular surgery he had Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart present, and they were told he only had a 5% chance of making it through the procedure. In a discussion on This Past Weekend, The Hulkster talked about what he was told when he arrived at the medical facility. When he had that really serious health issue, I got a call from Wendy and it didn’t look good. So we got a plane right away, flew up to Atlanta. I walked in and the doctor pulled me aside. He goes, ‘Hey, your buddy here has destroyed his body, some of his intestines and stuff inside were dying. He’s got a five percent chance of making it through this surgery. Continuing on, Hogan open...

Steve Austin On Refusing To Listen To Vince McMahon: "No, I'm gonna do it"

Image
Stone Cold Steve Austin recently recalled how he disagreed with Vince McMahon over his use of the middle-finger gesture in WWE. The Hall of Famer famously used to flip his rivals the bird during the height of his popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Although WWE shows were rated TV-14 at the time, McMahon wanted his top star to create a more family-friendly gesture. Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling Senior Editor Bill Apter, Austin revealed that McMahon liked the hand signal that Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) used in WCW. The then-WWE Chairman advised The Texas Rattlesnake to consider using a similar gesture, but he refused. “It just turns out that the timing was right when I did it,” Austin said.  “And they asked me not to do it, but I said, ‘No, I’m gonna do it.’ They wanted me to come up with a whole different hand signal. Vince did, specifically, because Diamond Dallas Page was giving the diamond [hand signal], right? And everybody would go like that [hands raised] with...

Stone Cold Steve Austin Turned Down Vince McMahon's Offer - Refused To Make A WWE comeback

Image
In wrestling years, that’s young. That’s perhaps even your prime years and we’ve seen the likes of Undertaker, Ric Flair and many others work up to in and around 50. Austin’s time on top was a blaze of unprecedented glory. From late 1996 to early 2002, the Texas Rattlesnake was the hottest thing in the business.  When that flash smashed, there was nothing like it. But neck issues and other piling health issues meant his WrestleMania 19 match with The Rock was his last. Retiring so young, many wondered if he could ever be tempted into a return, but that never manifested. However, Stone Cold Steve Austin told Chris Jericho on his podcast it wasn’t for lack of trying by Vince McMahon. “I think Vince [McMahon] tried talking me into coming back a couple of times," he said. "But you know Chris, I love the business so much – I can’t say I love it more than anybody else, I can only speak for myself. “But I just love the damn business, and it hurt me so much to leave it. And to ...

With Patrick Mahomes around, Brittany Mahomes enjoyed the off-season 'to the fullest'

Image
Brittany Mahomes has opened up about how much she has enjoyed the NFL off-season in which her husband, Patrick Mahomes, has been spending much more time with the family.  The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback will soon find himself back on the road travelling around the country to face various opponents who want to get the better of him. But, he has been at home a lot in the past few weeks, after winning the Super Bowl in February. This is the first off-season where the Mahomes have been a family of four, with the youngest of their two children being born during the previous NFL campaign. "Lots of 'I go to work with daddy' this off-season and we enjoyed every second of it!" Brittany Mahomes wrote on Instagram, sharing some photographs of the family on her Instagram page. "Love this - always busy - little fam of mine."   It is always difficult for the partners of sportspeople to deal with the fact that they see their loved one much less than the average famil...
