'We simply can’t accept Prince William as a future king because... - Royal Expert

Image
God save the King! Not a sentiment I would normally feel the need to espouse, but we live in strange and difficult times and so I must insist that God do his thing for once here (and before you accuse me of preferential begging of a divinity, I will add that I secularly pray for anyone I hear has recently had a cancer diagnosis) and keep him going for another two decades at least.  This is partly because I am a child and still somewhere in my juvenile, not to say primitive, unformed brain, I still believe as I did when I was five that you should and do get to live as long as your oldest parent did. If your mother dies at 96 and your father at 99 – well, you should get ready for at least one if not several telegrams from the King.  Basically, I have not grown up and still convulse at the idea of a universe that refuses to guarantee even this minimal justice. I mean. Come on. But it is mostly because I absolutely cannot cope with William succeeding to the throne any time soon....

I never thought I’d say this, but it’s time to bring Prince Harry home

Image
These days, even Tories like myself are finding it hard to defend the hereditary principle.  Personally, I have no taste for republicanism, due to my incapacity for envy. That emotion or weakness is quite absent from my makeup. In the face of other people’s good fortune, I am as inert as a deaf person at a recital.  But a Starmer government will find the fact that the Royal family has more money and more privilege than the rest of us interesting. I increasingly feel that the future of the Royal family may depend on its ability to cheer the public, and what it lacks now is the requisite joyfulness.  The King and the Princess of Wales are effectively hors de combat, poor Camilla is 76, life bears heavily on William, and no one fancies a Pizza Express. The Windsors are in grave need of some pizazz. Readers may succumb to the screaming abdabs, but the royal left standing who has most star power is Harry.  It is easy to blame him and his puerile book for the conti...

VIDEO: How Meghan Markle Paid Tribute to Princess Diana With Her Necklace in Nigeria

Image
Meghan Markle found a sweet yet subtle way to honor Princess Diana during her and Prince Harry's Nigerian tour.  Over the weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a reception for military families in Abuja, and for the occasion, Meghan wore a stunning white column dress by St. Agni with a strapless silhouette that showed off her necklace, which came from her late mother-in-law's jewelry box.  Wearing a diamond cross dangling from a gold chain, Markle's necklace was a "recent gift" from Harry and once belonged to Diana, according to People. The former Suits star swept her hair up in a bun with face-framing pieces and accessorized simply, allowing the pendant to take center stage.  Meanwhile, Harry coordinated with his wife in a cream-colored linen suit with a white button-down underneath. This wasn't the only sartorial nod Markle gave to Princess Diana on the couple's trip.  For their first day in Nigeria, she paired her peach maxi dress with a...

Isiah Thomas Disrespected Larry Bird but Eventually Paid Him the Ultimate Compliment

Image
During the 1980s and 1990s, some legendary NBA players hit the hardwood. That led to some fierce rivalries — only one team can win the title each year, after all — plenty of verbal warfare.  VIDEO Isiah Thomas and his “Bad Boy” Detroit Pistons understood that reality better than most. In 1987, for example, Dennis Rodman made headlines by asserting that Larry Bird was overrated because of his race. Thomas then appeared to agree with that claim, although the guard later insisted he was only joking... READ MORE>>>

"I think you made a mistake" - Isiah Thomas personally tells Larry Bird he was wrong about firing him as Pacers coach

Image
When Larry Bird was appointed as the Indiana Pacers president of basketball operations, one of the first things he did was fire Isiah Thomas from his job as the team's head coach and bring in Rick Carlisle.  For obvious reasons, it was an unforgettable moment for Zeke, and in fact, Thomas still vividly recalls how "Larry Legend" nonchalantly laid him off.  Thomas has told this story a couple of times in the past, but the first time he talked about it in front of Bird was during an interview on the NBA on TNT segment...
