VIDEO: How Meghan Markle Paid Tribute to Princess Diana With Her Necklace in Nigeria
Over the weekend, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a reception for military families in Abuja, and for the occasion, Meghan wore a stunning white column dress by St. Agni with a strapless silhouette that showed off her necklace, which came from her late mother-in-law's jewelry box.
Wearing a diamond cross dangling from a gold chain, Markle's necklace was a "recent gift" from Harry and once belonged to Diana, according to People.
The former Suits star swept her hair up in a bun with face-framing pieces and accessorized simply, allowing the pendant to take center stage.
Meanwhile, Harry coordinated with his wife in a cream-colored linen suit with a white button-down underneath.
This wasn't the only sartorial nod Markle gave to Princess Diana on the couple's trip.
For their first day in Nigeria, she paired her peach maxi dress with a gold collar necklace that looked very similar to the one Diana sported during her and King Charles's official tour of the African country in March 1990. For her part, the late princess wore the statement piece with a blue puff-sleeve dress covered in yellow and pink florals.
Markle's diamond cross necklace is just the latest piece from Diana's jewelry collection that she owns. She also has a pair of butterfly earrings, which she first debuted back in 2018 following her pregnancy announcement, as well as an aquamarine ring that she wore during her and Harry's wedding reception.
Harry also included two diamonds from his mother's personal collection when creating Markle's tri-stone engagement ring.
